GEOCHEMISTRY OF THE HYDROCARBON SOURCE ROCK OF MIDDLE JURASSIC WANBAO FORMATION FROM WELL TD1 IN TUQUAN BASIN, INNER MONGOLIA

Abstract:The TD1 well in the Mangniuhai depression in Tuquan Basin shows good?oil occurrence. Geochemical analysis for some drill hole cores indicates that the organic matter is in low abundance, mainly belonging to Type III, with minus Type II, in high mature stage. All these characteristics suggest that the source rocks of Middle Jurassic Wanbao Formation has good hydrocarbon-generating conditions. The exploration in the Tuquan Basin should focus on natural gas.
