Abstract:Based on the results of the latest OSL tests and fossil occurrences, the time of Wuerji Formation is judged as Middle Pleistocene. Lithologically, the Wuerji Formation is dominated by grayish-yellow sand and sand loam, developed with porosities, columnar joints and irregular ginger-like calcareous concretions. The strata are mainly distributed in Baiyinhua area in Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia, as well as in Jiumiao area in Fuxin City, Liaoning Province. The Upper Pleistocene eolian sediments are composed of mainly yellowish-brown fine slit and dark gray silt, with weak consolidation and developed columnar joints, but without ginger-like calcareous concretions. These strata are distributed mainly in the north of Hure Qi and Horqin Zuoyi Houqi of Inner Mongolia.
