Abstract:With an alysis on the geodynamic background for the tectonic evolutionary of the Mesozoic Ordos Basin, according to the tectonic evolution sequence, the Mesozoic basin is divided into six evolving stages, i.e. 1) the establishment of basin framework in Early-Middle Triassic, 2) formation of oil source rock in Late Triassic, 3) tectonically stable period in Early-Middle Jurassic, 4) hydrocarbon expulsion peak period in Late Jurassic, 5) uplifting of the whole basin in Early Cretaceous, and 6) extinction of the basin in Late Cretaceous. Each stage of the tectonic evolution of the basin exerts different influence and control to the forming of oil-gas source, the accumulation of hydrocarbon, the trap of oil and gas, and the distribution of reservoirs.
