Abstract:The "Hongtoushan type" of copper deposits in Fushun, Liaoning Province, occurred in Hunbei Archean greenstone belt, is macroscopically controlled by the Hongtoushan greenstone formation. The Hunbei Archean greenstone belt is characterized by long period of movement and complex evolution, with three episodes of ductile deformation and varied assemblages of deformation. The multistage folds and accompanying ductile shear faults, which formed in Anshan ductile deformation phase, are significant control and hosts for the "Hongtoushan type" of copper deposits. The structural control to the copper deposits is so obvious that it can be regarded as an important ore guide for such type of deposits.
