Abstract：With China's economic development,the consumption of petroleum and gas is increasing.China has become the second largest country for oil and gas consumption in the world.With 40% of oil imported from overseas, the oil reserves and products in China is not enough to meet the needs of this country s modernization.Thus the strategy for the exploration of potential oil and gas resources for China in the 21st century should be:developing more gas industries,expanding international oil market,sharing worldwide oil resources,enlarging the reserves of old oil fields and raising the utilization efficiency of energy.
