Abstract A visualized economic estimation system for mineral resources is an important part of digital mining project. This paper presents the main functions and design of a visualized economic estimation system for mineral resources with application of OpenGL technology. It adopts Access DBMS to manage related data, and employs VB and OpenGL to plot proved-line section maps and 3D ore body maps. A domain-knowledge based multi-contour reconstruction algorithm for ore body modeling is proposed. The system can easily calculate ore reserves according to the specified parameters. It provides a scientific planning reference and means for mine production and investors.
