Abstract Based on the characteristics of structural conditions, magmatism and sedimentation that are related to minerogenesis, the mineral deposits in Liaoning Province are classified into four assemblages of minerogenic series, i.e. magmatism-related assemblage, metamorphism-related assemblage, sedimentation-related assemblage and hot geothermal brine-related assemblage. Further more, 17 minerogenic series are subdivided. The crustal evolution in Liaoning Province has undergone multiple stages, in which the basement was formed in Archeozoic-Paleoproterozoic Era, platform cover was developed in Mesoproterozoic-Middle Triassic, and platform was mobiled of after Middle Triassic. The Nos. 1, 9, 10, 11 and 12 minerogenetic series were formed in the basement-forming stage; the Nos. 2, 4, 14, 15, 16 and 17 in cover development stage; while the Nos. 3, 5, 6, 7and 8 series in the platform mobilization stage. Kinds of alluvial and pluvial placers were formed in Quaternary as No. 13 series.
