Abstract Based on the detailed investigation of geological hazards in Baoting County, Hainan Province, with field survey and remote sensing results, this paper selects three items, i.e. geological structure, topography and human activities, including structure, rock assemblage, slope, altitude, vegetation, river and road, as the impact factors to evaluate the geological hazards. An assessment model for the probable occurrence level of geological hazards is established by analytical hierarchy process(AHP) the ArcGIS platform. Finally, the zoning of probable occurrence levels of geological hazards in Baoting County is completed with high-, medium-and low-probability areas. The result will provide scientific reference for geological hazard prediction and prevention in the future.
