Abstract The Dongshancha gold-molybdenum deposit is located in the Wangxiaopu-Xianjinchang-Jingjiagou gold metallogenic belt, where quite a few small-sized gold deposits and occurrences have been found. The orebodies occur mainly in greisen altered charnockitic gneiss and greisen, obviously controlled by faults. The prospecting indicators involve primary outcrop of orebody, wallrock alteration, mineral geochemistry and geophysical features. Based on comparative analysis on the ore bodies, ore composition, structure and wallrock alteration of known deposits in the area, it is believed that the ore-forming matters are derived mainly from ore-bearing intrusive rocks and strata. Genetically, the deposit belongs to meso-epithermal type closely related to acid-intermediate intrusive rocks.
