Abstract In Xifeng County of Liaoning Province, geological hazards mainly occur in an abrupt way with a wide distribution, dominated by collapses, landslides, mud-rock flows, surface subsidences, geofractures, etc. The complex geological structure, lithology, rich rainfall and increasingly frequent human activities are all responsible for the occurring of geological hazards. Based on the research on the origin of geological hazards, effective countermeasures can be adopted to avoid their occurring or to lower the hazard level.
