Abstract:The iron resources in Jilin Province are not enough to satisfy the sustainable development of steel industry. On the basis of metallogenic geological setting, the regional metallogenic regularities, characteristics of typical deposits, aeromagnetic and gravity abnormity are studied. The result shows an essential condition for iron deposit metallogenesis. The targets of iron ore are suggested at meta-sedimentary type, followed by contact metasomatic type, magmatic and volcanic types. The areas with aeromagnetic and gravity abnormity in Southern Jilin platform, Proterozoic Tadong group, and basic complex rock body distributed along large deep fault belts, especially basalt covered area and the crystalline basement of Mesozoic sedimentary basin, should by paid more attention.
