Abstract:The multi-stage movement of faults is the result of multiple tectonic cycles and deformations. The faults control the forming and evolving of sedimentary basins, magmatic activities, and the distribution of mineral resources. Therefore, it is important to strengthen the research and survey on the faults with multi-stage movements. In previous geological survey, however, more attentions were paid to faults with the latest or largest movement. Only one stage of activity was expressed. The maps only show simple information, without the whole process of multiple activities and evolution. It is hard to recover the evolution history of regional stress field and geological structures. Taking two faults in Jinzhou area of Dalian as example, the authors propose a suggestion of paying more attention to the survey and synthesized research on the multi-stage movement of faults. The maps should express more content, with activity times and natures of movement, showing the evolution history of regional geological structures.
