Abstract The west part of Southern Hunan Province is situated in the middle of Nanling polymetal metallogenic zone, where mineral resources are rich. The regularly distributed endogenic metallic deposits are controlled by certain sedimentary formation, geological structure and magmatite.Based on the background of metallogenic geology and deposit assemblage, three metallogenic series are divided in the studied area,namely,Cu-Pb-Zn-Ag metallogenic series related to I-type granitoid,W-Sn-Pb-Zn-Au-Ag metallogenic series related to S-type granitoid, and Fe-Mn-Pb-Zn metallogenic series related to sedimentary reformation.Six prospecting criteria are set up on the basis of the regional metallogenic regularity, geophysics, geochemistry and the distribution of minerals.
