Abstract Fluorine is one of the essential elements to human health.Drinking water is the most important source of fluorine for human body. The fluorine content in groundwater in Yongcheng area is 1.0 to 2.73 mg/L, which is harmful to human health, for the fluorine content in drinking water is not allowed to be higher than 1.0 mg/L.In the studied area, the fluorine content is related to the pH value, the chemistry and temperature of water. In this paper, the authors qualitatively and quantitatively discuss the conversion of fluorine from fluorine-bearing materials into groundwater, and analyze the influence of pH value, the chemistry and temperature of groundwater to the conversion.
