Abstract The Songxi Ag-Sb deposit is located in Baidu Town of Meixian, Guangdong Province, where submarine volcanic eruption and effusion took place in Early Jurassic period. During the intermission of and after the eruption, a larg e amount of residual polymetallic element-bearing gas and fluid deposited with terrigenous clast and intraclast in the sea basin, forming source bed of ore. Orebodies are formed by the reformation of later hydrothermal fluid and the superimposition and enrichment of ore-forming material. There is a similar ore-forming condition in the periphery within several kilometers from the Songxi ore field. Therefore the study on the ore-forming mechanism and establishment of an ore-forming model is significant to seek the "Songxi type" of deposits in the area.
