Abstract The regional distribution of the natural heavy mineral anomaly of gold in Liaoning Province is characterized by obvious zonation. The natural heavy minerals of gold, which can be divided into six zones, are controlled by large structures, hosting strata and tectonomagmatic belts. The formation of the natural heavy mineral of gold is related to the geological conditions, the physical and chemical properties of the mineral, as well as the terrain, landform and hydrology. The most important factor is the spatial distribution of gold deposits. There is a closely relationship between the heavy concentrate anomaly and primary ore body or ore-bearing rock body. The range of heavy concentrate anomaly is much larger than that of the primary ore body or ore-bearing rock body. The heavy concentrate anomaly can be used to assess regional ore potentiality and metallogenesis.
