Abstract There are many forest parks in Guangzhou, such as the Huolushan Forest Park, Fenghuangshan Forest Park and Maofengshan Forest Park, where granites are widely developed. The granites, generally occur in spheroidal weathering, are valuable geoheritages. With geological survey and analysis on the spheroidal weathered granite bodies in Huolushan Forest Park, a series of characteristics of the granite spheroidal weathering, as well as its formation mechanism, are summarized. It is believed that the spheroidal weathering bodies are worthy of further protection and development as scientific and aesthetic geological landscape.
