1 THE ENGH HAD DUCTILE SHEAR DEFORMATION OF MIDDLE JURASSIC XIUFENG FORMATION IN THE NORTHERN PART OF DAXINGANLING, INNER MONGOLIA
WU Li-wen, CHEN Zhi-yong, GUO Ling-jun, ZHNG Ming
The Engh Had ductile shear zone occurs in the glutenite of Middle Jurassic Xiufeng formation in Mohe basin in the northern part of Daxinganling Mountains. The geometric, kinematic and dynamic characteristics show that the ductile shear zone is dextrally slanted thrust shear zone from northwest to southeast. In the condition of compression from south to north, with a heat source provided by the syntectonic acid intermediate magmatic rock, the ductile shear deformation took place in the glutenite of Xiufeng formation along or across layers. At the same time, the strong ductile deformation promoted the activation and migration of Au in the glutenites. The ductile deformation zone and derived brittle structures perform the transferring channels for ore forming fluid and space for ore deposition.

12 SIGNIFICANCE AND GEOCHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF RARE EARTH ELEMENTS OF JINSHAN GOLD DEPOSIT,JIANGXI PROVINCE
LIU Zhi-yuan, JIN Cheng-zhu, WANG Rong-hu, LIANG Jun-hong, ZHANG Kai-ping
The Abundance and distribution of rare earth elements(REE)are related to the formatin and evolution of geologic bodies in Jinshan gold deposit.By analyzing and comparing the REE characteristics of wall rock, altered rock zone and ores from the deposit,it is concluded that the REE migrated and enriched during the rock fluid interaction, with inheritance of some constituents from original rocks at the same time. The geochemical characteristics of REE in the auriferous quartz veins indicate that the ore forming fluids are multi-source in nature. The quartz veins are formed by the cooperation of hydrothermal alterations and structural movements at different ore forming stages. The siliceous rock in the orefield, which was firstly found by the study,is geochemically a kind of hydrothermal sedimentary rock mixed with volcanic and/or terrigenous materials, suggesting a hydrothermal exhalative mineralization in the deposit.

23 ORE-CONTROLLING STRUCTURES IN PANGXIDONG Ag(Au) DEPOSIT, NORTHWEST GUANGDONG: Characteristics and regularities of structural control to rebodies
SUN Hua-shan, CAO Xin-zhi, ZHANG Ke
Metallogenetically,ore-controlling structure plays a role of ore-holding space. On the other hand,it is an important reason for the migrateion, concentration and precipitation of ore-forming material. For the purpose of metallogenetic prediction, however, prospectors pay more attention to ore-searching information or indicators, especially those macroscopical signs that can be simply and easily identified. The Pangxidong Ag(Au) deposit is a representative of its type in Northwest Guangdong Province. It is hosted in the altered rock of ore-controlling structure in the contact belt between Precambrian and Lower Paleaozoic compound gneiss and late Yanshanian granite. The orebodies are strictly restricted by the controlling structures in veins or lens. The variation of the forms and attributes of ore-controlling structures obviously affect the positioning of orebodies. The intersecting of differently oriented structures is the direct reason for the widened and thickened orebodies.

46 REMOTELY SENSED SPATIAL ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS DURING EXTRACTION OF MINERAL AND ENERGY RESOURCES: Case Studies of Fuxin Coal Mine and Paishanlou Gold Mine, China
Malogo J. M. Kongola, WANG En-de
The main purpose of this study was to apply remote sensing techniques in assessing spatial environmental effects caused by extraction of mineral and energy resources, with two case studies of the Fuxin Coal Mining Group and Paishanlou Gold Mine, in China. Landsat MSS, TM and ETM+imageries were used in this study. The used image enhancement and processing techniques were contrast stretching, density slicing, spatial altering and color composites. With enhanced imageries, different surficial materials were recognized. It was found that, as a result of the rated spatial resolution for Landsat TM data, areas over 900 m2 (30×30 m) in size could be detected with high accuracy, but those under that threshold could hardly be detected. Following the fact that the dimensions of almost all of features were above the 900 m2 threshold, Landsat TM and ETM+data were judged suitable in this study. This observation indicates that Landsat TM and ETM+imageries can adequately be used for mapping and assessing environmental changes at PGM and FCMG. Furthermore, the use of satellite data in environmental studies is effective, quick and less labor intensive.

53 CONTROL AND RECOVERY OF GROUNDWATER DEPRESSION
DU Ji-zhong, XIAO Guo-qiang
The affection of groundwater depression to local environment has heen unnecessarily overemphasized and exaggerated.Groundwater depression is a natural phenomena while groundwater is pumped out.By analyzing and comparing several groundwater depressions in Northeast and North China,it can be found that regional hydrogeological condition and pumping intensity affect their forming and developing. The groundwater depressions can be controlled and restored as well.It may be developed to geo-disaster only when it is out of control. The correct understanding to the characteristics and changes of depressions will be helpful to the exploration for groundwater resource and avoidance of geo-environmental problems.

78 DISCUSSION ON THE POTENTIAL AND STRATEGY OF HYDROCARBON RESOURCES IN CHINA
FENG Ming, CAO Cheng-run, CHEN Li, WU Hai
With China's economic development, the consumption of petroleum and gas is increasing.China has become the second largest country for oil and gas consumption in the world. With 40% of oil imported from overseas, the oil reserves and products in China is not enough to meet the needs of this country s modernization. Thus the strategy for the exploration of potential oil and gas resources for China in the 21st century should be:developing more gas industries, expanding international oil market, sharing worldwide oil resources, enlarging the reserves of old oil fields and raising the utilization efficiency of energy.
